Location
Most visitors pass through Ierissos either to go to Mount Athos, or to enjoy its sandy beaches with the unique coarse sand. It has the advantage of having beaches suitable for swimming and awarded with the blue flag, wonderful walking routes to archaeological sites & chapels, beach bars, cafes and taverns in the settlement and on the coastal promenade. All this makes it a unique vacation spot. Leaving Ierissos towards Nea Roda you will see on the left the old karnaia (shipyards) and the port while on the right - on the hill you can see part of the walls of ancient Akanthos.
